摘要 Peter Monge (1998: 4), a former president of the International Communication Association, noted that: there can be little doubt that the preponderance of contemporary communication theory has been developed from the singular perspective of the United States.' There are many challenges stress Eastern conceptual frameworks of communication studies. Comparative research lives up to the rule that 'every observation is without significance if it is not compared with other observations.' It can be said, arguing theoretically from a epistemic point of view, that we form our ideas through comparisons (Aarebrot & Bakka, 1997: 49). Comparative research in communication deserves more attention, because it enables us to inspect our own findings critically by using the examination of others, and only by doing so enables us to reach conclusions with an extensive claim to validity.
