Law School Lecture on Learning Thinking Invite Professor Lin Dongmao to give a keynote speech

From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on January 6th, the College of Law held the first academic lecture of the year in the Fa, Jyh-Pin Lecture Room of the Rule of Law. As the title, we will compose a melody of life and law together with the teachers and students of our school. More than 30 people including Dean Cheng-Hsien Hsu, Director Shengjie Li of the Criminal Law Center, and students in the master's and doctoral classes of the school attended the whole process, and the participation was quite active.

In his speech, Dean Hsu said that in addition to his expertise in criminal law, Prof. Lin also covers literature, history, philosophy and other humanities, as well as martial arts, traditional Chinese medicine and other fields. What is especially commendable is that Professor Lin integrates the "knowledge of life" of life experience into the "life of knowledge" of criminal law research, and connects his thoughts, thereby interpreting the life of law, forming a unique and elegant demeanor, and showing the law. People's excellent knowledge and self-cultivation are admirable!

Although this speech involves the traditional issue of processing suicide crime, Professor Lin is not limited to the interpretation of law. Instead, he opened the prelude with a piece of "Poem of Atom", leading the teachers and students on the scene to reflect on how life is in the law and how Deep implications beyond the law. He first drew materials from history and his own extensive life experience, including historical figures who died calmly, Tibetans who set themselves on fire in foreign squares in order to draw attention to specific issues, and even the medical system overloaded by the epidemic. The problems of saving and not saving the sick all involve thinking about life. Secondly, with the normative connotation of the crime of processing suicide in Switzerland, Germany and my country, it reflects on the connection and alienation between it and the real life situation. At the same time, Professor Lin has repeatedly emphasized that there is often a considerable gap between the ideal description imagined in a comfortable environment and the specific situation of real life. Legal practitioners should use their heart to observe, and must not be complacent because of neglect, or obsessed with narrow views. opinionated. On the other hand, from a macro perspective beyond religion and dogma, Professor Lin combined with the experience of real life, aiming at the meaning of "euthanasia" in the meaning of life and criminal law theory, to further observe life and think about the law. The content of the speech contains wisdom and Sobering!

During the Q&A session, the on-site response was quite enthusiastic. Professor Lin responded with sincerity and patience to the euthanasia capsules allowed by some countries, the prospect of popularization of euthanasia, and how the relaxation of the conditions of euthanasia will affect the protection of life by the law. In addition, he also encouraged students to understand and contemplate the state of life from different perspectives in addition to studying law, so that the two can present more profound interactions. Professor Lin's above-mentioned words of wisdom are providing the best explanation for explaining the relationship between law and life, and it also marks a perfect ending for the first academic lecture this year.
